Davis Rides the Cushion to Victory in Wild Fall Jamboree Feature
SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (September 25, 2026) — Night two of the Featherlite Trailers Fall Jamboree had everything Deer Creek Speedway fans could ask for: a track record, battles along the cushion, a costly late incident and a charge from the eighth starting spot to victory lane. When the 35-lap Summit Racing Equipment A-Main was over, Brandon Davis had the $3,000 check and his 18th career USMTS victory.
Davis’s win tied him with Tim Donlinger on the USMTS career wins list and strengthened his Wieland Metal Services points lead heading into Saturday’s Fall Jamboree finale.
The speed showed up early Friday. Dylan Thornton broke the Deer Creek track record that Rodney Sanders had set just one night earlier at 14.667 seconds. Thornton followed that run by winning Simpson Race Products Heat Race #1. Keith Foss, Tanner Mullens and Jake Timm also picked up heat race victories to set the stage for the main event.
Reece Solander, the Sybesma Graphics Pole Award winner, took the early lead and completed lap one out front. His night changed quickly when Thursday’s winner, Joe Chisholm, made contact with the left rear of Solander’s No. 5. Solander went to the Danny Crane Racing Engines Hot Pit for an American Racer tire change, and both drivers restarted at the tail of the field.
As the race unfolded, Mullens moved to the front and led 26 of the 35 laps. Thornton attacked the cushion and was running third when another turning point came on lap 23. Thornton looked for a way past Jim Chisholm, but Chisholm’s No. 24c pushed up toward the wall coming out of turn four and collected Thornton. Both drivers’ nights ended while they were running second and third.
Davis had been watching Thornton’s line. After the caution, he took his car to the top and used the high side to make his move on Mullens.
“Dylan showed me the way to go,” Davis said in victory lane. “I went to the top after that caution and knew that’s where I needed to be. I love racing Tanner and I didn’t want to ruffle any feathers. We had plenty of areas to race, as this track was awesome tonight.”
Davis brought it home for the win, while Mullens finished second after spending most of the feature out front. Jake Timm made his presence felt in the No. 49 and earned the Featherlite Trailers Top-3 podium finish. Louisiana’s Talan Willis took fourth, and Nick Murgic drove his No. 12 from 14th on the grid to fifth.
There was plenty of movement deeper in the field, too. Lucas Schott charged his Longhorn Chassis from 20th to eighth to earn FK Rod Ends Hard Charger of the Night honors. Jacob Bleess advanced from 17th to ninth, and Steve Lavasseur moved from 24th to 18th around the three-eighths-mile high-banked oval.
Friday’s result also carried weight in the championship chase. Davis leaves night two with a larger Wieland Metal Services points lead after Jim Chisholm recorded a DNF.
The Summit Racing Equipment USMTS returns to Deer Creek Speedway on Saturday, September 26, for the final night of the Featherlite Trailers Fall Jamboree. Follow USMTS social channels for the latest event details.
